MEET THE VBA TEAM - Kylie Mercadante, Billing Supervisor.

Kylie enjoys fixing things and her role in billing is just that. She loves to make the crazy insurance world seem easy for our clients, this plays a huge role in the productivity of VBA. Her desire and drive to help others is how she has become successful in her position as billing supervisor.

She admits that her career in billing was a fluke, but wanting to be there for others wasn’t. With her brother having autism she vowed to work for a company that helps people! Being a mom of two little ones she is definitely up for any challenge!

Kylie loves her work, but when not at work you can totally catch her at SeaWorld or the Wild Animal Park soaking up some sun! She’s a 6th generation native San Diegan and family time is the most important time to her!

1. I have been with VBA for just over 4 years and I am the Billing Supervisor.

2. I wanted to join VBA because I have a brother with Autism and wanted to be part of a company whose mission is to help individuals with disabilities. Getting into billing was a fluke, but became something I really enjoy!

3. What I like most about my position is figuring out how to make things work. Insurance is a tricky world, so figuring out how to get our clients access to services and getting those services paid can be a challenge sometimes. I love the challenge. That’s also what I like least about my position as well though. We all know how much our services are needed for these families, so having so many hoops to jump through with our funding sources can be frustrating.

4. I would be with my husband and 2 little ones, doing something like going to SeaWorld or the Wild Animal Park.

5. I define success through experiences with family. We have a huge desire to not only experience everything together where we live, we want to travel all over the world to experience new things.

6. My bookshelf at home is filled with James Patterson books. Sam’s Letters to Jennifer is my favorite book of all time.

7. I think what prepared me most for my role at VBA is my desire to work for a company that helps people. That desire is what really drives me to learn and achieve more.

8. The most interesting place I’ve travelled is Puerto Rico. The warm and crystal clear ocean water, the beautiful rainforest, and amazing food could keep me there forever!

9. My personal hero is my Grandmother. She was a professional racecar driver in the 60s, and was inches away from becoming the first female national champion. She also raised 5 sons and ran a household at the same time. Talk about tough!

10. One thing nobody at VBA knows about me is that I am a 6th generation native San Diegan. My whole family is here 🙂
