Having a passion for numbers is not for everyone, but for Emilio it is something he admires. Working previously in a large national company, his background has prepared him for this role in billing. Although never worked in the ABA field, Emilio’s mom does, and he thanks her for his passion for the field we’re all in.
Emilio also believes that working in teams is the key to success. He’s well known for throwing REALLY great parties, and we’re all looking forward to the day (hopefully soon!) when we can bring them back once more.
- How long have you been at VBA and what is your position?· I was hired early February 2018 (almost three years!) as a scheduler. I am currently in billing.
- What inspired you to pursue a career in this field? Since college I have enjoyed working with numbers and my mother works in the ABA field, so I felt comfortable in this position.
- What do you like the most about your position and the least? I like that in my position I get to interact with some great coworkers, and being on hold for a super long time with insurance companies is my least favorite part of the job.
- If you weren’t at the office, what would you be doing instead? Golfing or being outside at a park or beach.
- How do you define success? I follow a quote I heard from Neil deGrasse Tyson; “Know more today about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others.” If I can complete that to some capacity, then I would consider that day or month or year a success.
- What three books would we find on your bookshelf at home? Several biographies of people I admire (i.e. Steve Jobs, John Wooden, and Tina Fey).
- How has outside knowledge or experiences prepared you for this role? Previously working in an office may be the onoy experience I’ve had in this field. Everything else has been relatively new.
- What’s the most interesting place you’ve travelled to? Palermo, Sicily. One of the most beautiful coastal semi-Mediterranean cities I’ve seen, with a rich culture I had never experienced.
- Who is your personal hero and why? I would have to go with my parents. As I grow older I am able to see how much they sacrificed to put me and my brother through school and to pay for all our extracurricular activities throughout the years.
- What is one thing nobody at VBA knows about you? Not sure if people know this, but I lived in Mexico for a year and attended second grade there. It was a BLAST!
