Susan Tillman…she makes the trains run on time, and is the keeper of the keys at VBA. Here’s your chance to really get to know her:
- How long have you been at VBA?
My official start date with VBA is October 15, 2012. - What about VBA inspires you?
So many things! Most of all it is our employees. They show such heart and dedication to the clients we serve and that is incredibly uplifting. - What in your personal life inspires you?
What is the most challenging aspect about your role? Anytime one works with people, it can be complicated. There are so many factors that can come into play with any situation that is presented. I always try to keep a level head and view the situation from a variety of perspectives. I know I do not always have the right solution and that can be hard. - What do you like the most about your position and the least?
I love and hate that no day is the same as the last. - If you weren’t at the office, what would you be doing instead?
At dog beach with my hounds! - How do you define success?
That is hard and I think it changes regularly for me. I find success in little completed tasks, small joys, helping people. It just depends on what the initial goal was and if I completed it, then that is a success. - What three books would we find on your bookshelf at home?
Cook books for sure, mysteries, comics - How has outside knowledge or experiences prepared you for this role?
I started my educational career in criminology and investigations. This has helped me hone my interactions with people. I try to watch and listen before I take action. I can’t say I am always 100% successful, but I try. - If you could pick one person to travel the world with, who would it be?
My husband, he is my constant partner in crime! - Who is your personal hero and why?
I don’t have one.
