Understanding ABA Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy can be effective at improving a variety of behavioral issues for many age groups and demographics. After assessing our patients, we develop a range of goals to work on during our interventions. With the belief that every student has the ability to learn, we take a student-led approach to developing the best strategy for each child.
During our intervention, we explore:
- Expanding listener and speaker skills
- Improving functional communication
- Social Skills
- Self-Management/Adaptive skills
- Gross and Fine motor skills related to academic readiness
- Reducing maladaptive behavior
- Teaching appropriate replacement behaviors
- Learning Capabilities: Generalized Imitation, Incidental Language Learning, Observational Learning
- Add Giving Children a Voice®
Choosing ABA Therapy
After extensive research from a wide range of patients, ABA therapy has been proven to be a beneficial intervention technique. Doctors and therapists have worked together in an effort to create this powerful and helpful method focused on supporting patients facing autism, behavioral challenges, communication problems, listening issues, and motor skill development. If you’re searching for an alternative to previous approaches for your child, then consider our qualified ABA therapists..
Our Approach
The first step in our process is to determine eligibility. We provide services in the home, school, and community settings, so we work with both the funding source and family to customize a unique program that suits your child. We start with a comprehensive assessment of your child conducted by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Then based on the results of that assessment, we craft a treatment plan that’s specific to the child. We will outline a range of goals focusing on skill acquisition, behavior reduction, and instructional programs. A team of Behavior Interventionists is assigned to each child where they will work one on one to ensure progress. In addition to the work our team will be doing, we also work with families to teach them strategies and give them the tools to help their child with daily activities.
Eligibility for Services:
Once eligibility for services is determined, VBA® will work individually with your family and funding source to customize a program for your child.
VBA® provides ABA services in the home, school, and community settings. The key components of our intervention include:
Comprehensive Assessment:
At the onset of services, a BCBA(Board Certified Behavior Analyst) Case Manager will conduct a comprehensive assessment with your child, which include a functional behavior assessment, home observation, parent interview, and direct assessment of skills across all developmental domains.
Individualized Instruction:
Based on assessment results, the case manager will create an individual treatment plan, outlining target skill acquisition goals, behavior reduction goals, and instructional programs to achieve these goals. Your family will be assigned a team of Behavior Interventionists who will work directly 1:1 with your child. The BCBA(Board Certified Behavior Analyst) will provide on-going supervision of your child’s programming, monitor progress and make adjustments to the programming to ensure progress.
Parent Training:
Your child’s intervention team will also teach you the skills to work with your child, taking into consideration your family dynamics, needs, environment, and any other important factors. We systematically teach you the strategies to work with your child throughout his/her daily activities. Our goal is to provide parents with necessary tools to be able to follow your child’s behavior plan and capture opportunities to work on various skills throughout their everyday routines and activities.
